As far as voting, imo all voting is simply a popularity contest. Think high school and multiply be the ratio of voters to the size of your high school class.

I am skeptical of anyone claiming to be a Democrat or Republican, who runs their campaign as a centrist. As we have all seen recently, that tactic is very successful and is all but scuttled after inauguration.

Plans/Policies 30%
Experience 30%
Character/Honor 30% (assuming Fiscal Responsibility is lumped in here)
Charisma/Personality 5%
Public Speaking Ability 5% (they just have to tell me what they beklieve in a way that I can relate to, dont try to tug at my heart strings, I dont vote with emotions (mostly))

The sad part to this is that there will be more stories that never get told. It’s incredible how much other media outlets use newspaper reporting to present stories. I think this is a tremendous blow to each community that loses publication. I also don’t see a quick fill in and citizen reporting will be spotty at best, so we all suffer from this…not just a newspaper going out of business.

Sorry to hear about your dad. I know what you must have gone through. On March 28 it will be 2 years since I lost my own dad. Having got to know you when you came here, we know how much your family meant to you. Tina still has the little glass ball your mum gave her.
