The Cliffs of Toledo

Sometime over the past year, a mated pair of Peregrine Falcons began nesting in The University of Toledo’s clock tower. We’ve been keeping an eye on them and after the ODNR installed a nesting box, there are apparently two eggs.

I shot these photos at the top of the clock tower by leaning out over the edge of an opening on the South side while the naturalists were there scouting the area out.

I really love night photos.

I was on my way home from an assignment (that somebody forgot to tell me was cancelled) and I noticed how incredibly still and unseasonably warm it was. Since I was going to pass the Anthony Wayne bridge and the Toledo river front on my way home, I thought I’d see what kind of photos I could make.

Yep, still here

Wow, six months between posts. I’m kind of defining the word, “slacker” as it applies to blogging.

A bit has gone on in the interim between posts. I lost an aunt (Annette Haas) but gained a niece, (Isabelle Jayne Mays) [insert obligatory cute baby shot here]

witnessed a terrible UT football season and most of a great basketball season,

and helped friends finish a room on their house and started a quest for one of my own. (a house, not a room)

And I’m sure there have been many other notable things that my feeble memory won’t let me remember.

More frequent updates to come…
(and this time I mean it.)

Over the past few years working for the University of Toledo I’ve been trying to make photographs of our iconic clock tower that are unique from all the others taken of it over the years. It hasn’t been easy but here are a couple of my latest attempts.

That time of year again

It’s been a long off-season but Wednesday marked the first practice of the year for the Toledo Rockets. The team was out running drills with temperatures in the mid-90s so even the coaches were working up a good sweat.

Jamie Farr LPGA – The Photos

Posted in Photos at 9:15 am by photodan

The little op/ed piece that preceded this post was actually written for the UT News. (God help us all, they let me play with words and pictures.) Our fantastic editor, Vicki Kroll, convinced me to get off my literary butt and string a couple syllables together so now you, my loyal reader, know who to blame.

Ok, enough with the words stuff. On with the photographs!
