Culture Clash
October 20, 2003

There's a reason most photojournalists don't dress up for work often. You never know when you'll have to breathe soybean dust in the middle of a northwest Ohio field to get good light.

The setting sun silhouettes farmer Roger Burtchin as he harvests one of his soybean fields, Monday, Oct. 13, 2003. Because the field is bordered on two sides by subdivisions, Burtchin tries to be considerate and keep dust down as much as possible for those with laundry out drying. Because suburbs and subdivisions are encroaching on farmland, there have been some difficulties between the two cultures.
