Quick Storm

We had a quick storm roll through around sunset today and the quality of the light was gorgeous. I knew it would only last a short time so I grabbed the gear and headed out to see if I could find anything. I only had about 10 minutes of good light so I took what I could get.

Confusion Over USB Naming Conventions:

Lately there has been some confusion over what to call the Universal Serial Bus. (USB) Some computer makers have apparently mis-labeled some products fooling customers into believeing they were getting more than they really were. Here is my attempt to clarify the situation. Be sure to grab a glass of milk, because it's a bit dry.

Island Weekend

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to spend the weekend out on Middle and South Bass Islands. These are just some goofy off-the-cuff pictures I managed to grab in between "refreshments."

Just a bridge

I don't know what to say about this, except it's the last picture from Tasmania that I'm going to post. No advice, no explanation. It's just a bridge I crossed once.

The IBM PowerPC 970 has been surrounded by much rumor and speculation including being called the "Fastest PowerPC so far." TMO recently discovered that there were product pictures of it on IBM's Microelectronics Photo Catalog that we hadn't seen before.

Music Sharing Workaround Found For Itunes

This is something new to my WebLog, added by request if you can believe it. Whenever I write an article for The Mac Observer, I'll add a link here.

It was only a matter of time. Only a few days have passed since TMO reported on Apple removing iTunes music sharing support for computers outside your local network and someone has already found a workaround.

In Remembrance

While in Australia this past May, I had the honor of meeting Wayne Papps, a fantastic photographer working for the Australian Antarctic Division. He was warm and friendly and I felt lucky for the few minutes we had to speak. The work he did was breathtaking and I am truly humbled by his talent.

The loss of this great photographer is a tragedy not only to the large number of people he and his work affected but to photography itself. We are lucky that Wayne will live on through his photographs.
