I have always been interested in learning new things. One of the best parts of my job is that I get access to people and places that ordinary people don't. Today I was introduced to new medical technology and allowed to make my first diagnosis of an abnormality in a mammogram. Photography isn't the only profession where attention to detail is important.

Dr. Matthew Gutowicz Jr. uses a magnifying glass to examine traditional film mammograms. Fisher-Titus Hospital in Norwalk, Ohio now has a new digital system that aids in screening and diagnosis of abnormalities in breasts.
Lake Wobegon it ain't, but I figured people could use a ridiculous photo after the week of wall-to-wall war coverage.

It's amazing how some "yearly" assignments can look totally different from year to year. I shot this same even last year and had a terrible time getting decent images. It was just the opposite this time. I would have had enough good images for an entire A-1 package... if the war hadn't started tonight.

Shooting out in cold weather can be a pain. I was only out in the wind for 10 minutes at a stretch, these guys had been up in the air all day. It's easy to complain until you see people in a worse situation.
