Some changes…
If you’ve been to photodan.net before, I’m sure you’ve noticed that things have changed a bit. A brief explanation:
The sweetheart hosting deal I had for the first few years of this blog’s life came to an end. I know I’ve done it before but I’d like to offer my sincere thanks to the person responsible for that. For a time afterwards I wasn’t sure if I’d continue on with this site because of some technobabble (see next graf) and a huge issue with comment spam. The spam problem was really bad as I was spending at least 10x the time cleaning the comments as I was updating the content and it was getting old fast.
The technobabble. My old site was based on an old version of a blog engine called MovableType. In its time it was truly groundbreaking but had become a well known target for automated spamming programs. It just wasn’t easy to add adequate protection. Another (and bigger) problem was that I couldn’t easily move my previous entries to a newer version or to different blog software. So I decided to start over with a fresh site.
Since I’m starting over with a new blog engine, my old entries will lose some functionality. The biggest will be the loss of the search function and the ability to leave comments. So the look and operation of my old blog will take a back seat but still be available as archives.
Is this the final look for the new site? Oh hell no. This is the plain vanilla look from the basic install but it’ll have to stay this way until I get the time to customize the design. (I have a lot of studying to do to brush up on my CSS programming.)

Dan! I can’t tell you how great it is to finally see your site back up and running, mostly because I have to get back to CALCULUS class. That’s right, I have started back on the track of academic development, and after only four weeks, I am ready to die. Calc still sucks as much as it did the first 20 time I took it, but on the brighter side, I think I am really doing okay.
Well, I guess I’ll see you Saturday.
